India Tours · Ooty
Discover the beautiful Nilgiri hills of Ooty, surrounded by lush tea gardens, misty mountain viewpoints, peaceful lakes and the famous Nilgiri Mountain Railway.
Explore Packages ↓Ooty (Udhagamandalam) sits in the Nilgiri hills of Tamil Nadu, known for its tea gardens, Ooty Lake for boating, the Government Botanical Garden, and the Nilgiri Mountain Railway — a UNESCO World Heritage narrow-gauge toy train running from Mettupalayam. Given its closeness to Coorg, Mysore, Kodaikanal and Wayanad, most Ghumega India itineraries combine Ooty with one or more of these South India hill destinations.
October–June covers most of the comfortable season, with April–June (the Ooty summer festival period) especially busy given the cooler relief it offers from the plains below. July–September is monsoon season with heavier rain.
A short Ooty-only trip works in 2 nights. Combining Ooty with Coorg, Mysore or Kodaikanal for a fuller South India hill circuit typically needs 5–7 nights.
Coimbatore Airport is the nearest airport with wider connectivity, roughly 2.5–3 hours by road via Mettupalayam and the Nilgiri ghat road. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway toy train also runs from Mettupalayam up to Ooty as a scenic alternative for part of the journey.
